The mission of the Carroll County Emergency Shelter is to promote hope and provide shelter, support and education to women, men and children who are victims of domestic violence in the West Georgia area. If you believe that something about your relationship feels wrong, it is probably time to talk to someone. You are not alone. Here are some of the warning signs of an abusive relationship. If you can answer yes to one or more of these questions, then it is time to get help.
- Are you afraid to say "no" or disagree with your partner?
- Does your partner criticize you constantly?
- Have you ever been hit, kicked or pushed by your partner?
- Have you been forced to have sex?
- Is your partner jealous of time you spend with your friends and family?
- Does your partner blame you or others for every problem or for his or her own mistakes?
- Does your partner threaten to hurt you, your children, or other family members?
- Does your partner throw things, damage or destroy property and possessions,abuse or threaten to hurt pets?
